At first the mines are small, but later, large blotches appear on the upper side of the leaf. The green tissue of the leaf is devoured, and the function of the leaf is destroyed. Remedies : Gathering and destroying infected leaves; crushing the maggot inside the leaf. Woolly-Bear (Spilosoma virginica) : Large caterpillars, about one and one-fourth inches in length.
