The upper chaff consists of two cheeks with four steps, the upper part with solid brass tappan, the cross bandage consists of a sloping calf, two axial bodies and a cross beam on which the soleplate rests. The axle bodies have no wheels. Two small wheels are fitted to the cheeks, which run over the rails of the outer shelves, but only when the wheels are centered against the rear axle body and run over the rails of the middle pair of shelves. Brackets around the rear axle body secure the upper chaff on the carriage.
