Black Crowned Night heron flying around its nest site at Venice Rookery, Venice, Florida. Note its stocky appearance and short legs and with its black crown. Normally not seen flying during the day but instead skulks around the undergrowth and only comes out flying at dusk to feed. Note the blackish back and black cap.
