The North Sea klipper Albatros at Well-next-the-Sea, Norfolk, UK

Albatros was built in Rotterdam in 1899, a ‘northseaklipper’, two years after the opening of the 120 km Kiel Canal which connected the Baltic to the North Sea and cut out several hundred miles of sailing around the north of Denmark. She was built to work that route but traded all around the North Sea, latterly to the UK. She ceased sail trading in 1996 and in recent years has been at Wells trading as a pub and Dutch pancake house.
