He madean impression in our city which is felt to thisday, and he is ready to acknowledge thatAberdeen left its mark on him. It was during Dr Clows ministry that theSouth congregation removed from the oldbuilding under the brick spire at the cornerof Belmont Street and Schoolhill to the presenthandsome building on the Viaduct. Duringthe busy years of his pastorate in the city theforce of Dr Clows striking and attractivepersonality was widely felt. He was intensely. Principal Clow. human, vivacious, warm-hearted, with a keensense of humour, and an overflowing interestin life in all its varying forms and men and women found it impossible toresist his buoyancy and enthusiasm, while thechildren were irresistibly drawn to him. Hewas often to be seen in the heart of a smallcrowd of boys in the street, for he seldompassed them at their games without a kindlygreeting, and som> of them prill remember how ?he caught and tossed their balls. One incident of his Aberdeen days may berecalled Dr Clow has a fine power ofimagination, and a, command of vividlanguage, and he can depict Bible scenes andcharacters of far-off ages until they glow withreality and throb with life before bis a certain occasion he had been speaking ofthe glories of the new Jerusalem and thjsfelicity of the redeemed, painting one dazzlingpicture after another, until his hearers eal astransfixed, and one worthy
