This image shows Louvre and Tuileries in the first half of the 17th century. An engraving by Callot in Pictures and Drawings section of the National Library in Paris. The Tuileries was a royal and imperial palace in Paris on the right bank of the River Seine. It was the Parisian residence for most French monarchs, from Henry IV to Napoleon III, until it was burned by the Paris Commune in 1871. The Louvre was a royal residence as well until 1682 when Louis XIV moved his court to Versailles.
