Light micrograph of a section through the developing tooth of a foetal cat. At the centre of the tooth is pulp (light pink, bottom).The blue line is the dentin of the tooth, which is secreted by odontoblasts (line of pink cells beneath dentin). The thin dark red line is the enamel covering the crown of the tooth. It is secreted by ameloblast cells (line of pink cells above enamel). Magnification: x600 when printed at 15cm wide.
