Hydrogen fuel cell cars that have been developed as part of a research project. Hydrogen fuel cells combine hydrogen and oxygen (from the air) to create electricity. The only by-products produced are heat and water, making this technology a clean source of power compared to the pollutant gases produced by the burning of fossil fuels. This research is being carried out at Birmingham University, UK. The hydrogen has been obtained from sustainable sources, such as the processing of organic waste.
