It seems that the best interests of nomenclature and taxonom\' will be served by using the name of nuiura for this spe- cies. It has been interesting to find, in a large series of specimens from Oregon, adult and nymphal specimens which I cannot satisfactorily separate from niaiira material taken in eastern North America (Frison 1942). Slight differences in wing color seem to exist, but characters of this nature are apt to be variable. Taeniopteryx maura is common in parts of Minnesota, and no doubt it will be found eventually in states or Canadian provinces east of Oregon and west of Minnesota. The species maura (^ nivalis and mau- ra) has been previously recorded from the District of Columbia, Illinois, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, New Hamp- shire, New York, North Carolina, Nova Scotia, Pennsylvania and Virginia. To this list I can now add the states of Con- necticut, Florida, Georgia, Indiana, Iowa, Kentucky, Michigan, Minnesota, Mis- souri, Ohio, Oklahoma, Oregon, Tennes- see, West Virginia and Wisconsin.
