Gwithian and Towans is synonymous with tin production and extraction, with sand being sifted and processed to extract the tin contained within cliff has worn away these last three years, exposing the rails and end of the truck for removing the ore, the truck which was filled by women way back 100 years ago, the 100-year-old cart is emerging from a cliff at Gwithian after vegetation was cleared from around it,some more recent erosion, making it more visible. Blasting through the rocks on the beach allowing the horse and carts to continue along the beach as the tide came in, the men were paid by the cart loads. it is said that the cuts happened after a cart was lost trying to get round the rocks to late, the cuts blasted in the rocks, allowed the work to be carried out at high tide. The Gwithian Tin Sand Works shut down,at the beginning of the Second World War
