The Potter Mesh Separator and Superheater The most radical and important peculiarity of the Potter sep-arator is that it is designed to be placed in the steam space of theboiler or in the dome, thereby dispensing with the usual pipingfor the separator. The separator, an engraving of which, with onesection cut away, is shown herewith, consists of a number of metalbands with a piece of wire cloth between each pair supported byheavy end castings. The whole is bolted together and fitted tothe steam outlet inside of the boiler. The shape of the separator. ing and Hanging of large and small pipe and for pipe bending. Itis located at 497 to 505 Cherry Street, connecting in the rear withthe pipe storage warehouse at 742 and 744 Water Street, and beingopposite the main warehouse at 490 and 502 Cherry Street. Beingdirectly on the East River, and very easily accessible to lighters,^it is in an exceptionally convenient location for handling heavywork. The building is 125 ft. x 100 ft., the main shop being110 ft. X 63 ft., and devoted to the cutting, threading andflanging of large pipe. The rear shop is devoted to the handlingof small pipe and to pipe bending. A paved driveway runsthrough the building at one end from the pipe storage yard toCherry Street. The pipe is brought from the yard to the machineon trolleys with air lifts, and, when ready, is loaded into the trucksin the same way. There are thirteen pipe machines in the mainshop, and in addition to these there are machines for screwingup flanges of all siz
