Sten Gun Production in Britain, 1943 A lorry driver climbs into his cab in order to transport 1200 breech blocks, which have now been hardened and polished, to the Royal Ordnance Factory where they will be fitted into Sten guns. The blocks have already travelled from a small factory in Welwyn Garden City, where steel bars were turned into blocks, and from another small engineering works, where they were milled. This journey from a glass works, somewhere in the South of England, where they have been polished, to the Royal Ordnance Factory at Fazakerley, near Liverpool, will be their last.
