Cedric Villani (born 1973). Portrait of the French mathematician Cedric Villani holding a book in a library. Villani works primarily on partial differential equations and mathematical physics. He was awarded the Fields Medal in 2010 and has been the director of Institut Henri Poincare in Paris, France, since 2009 (as of 2013).
