An illumination round can be seen in the distant sky as soldiers of Apache Troop and Charlie Troop 5th Squadron, 7th Cavalry Regiment, stationed at Fort Stewart, Ga., prepare to fire another illumination round into the sky during a field training exercise in Bulgaria, Nov. 11, 2015. Illumination rounds are used to reveal the location of enemy forces hidden by darkness and allow the commander to confirm or deny the presence of the enemy without revealing the location of friendly direct-fire weapons.
