This image may not be used to state or imply NOAA endorsement of any company or product Antarctic 'ozone hole' in 1995. Map of total atmospheric ozone concentration in the southern hemisphere on 8 October 1995. The colours represent the ozone concentration in Dobson Units (DU), with paler tones representing higher values. The 'ozone hole' is at centre, coloured in dark blue tones (less than 210DU). The lowest value recorded was 98 DU, equal to the lowest minima seen in recent years. Normal 'healthy' values are around 280 DU. The data comes from the TIROS Ozone Vertical Sounder (TOVS) instrument on an American TIROS weather satellite.
