On January 27,1914, the tendons were replaced and the sheaths and fasciasutured over. Recovery followed with a good joint free frompain. Case 12.—G. G., aged 15, was accidentally shot in the rightknee. The bullet lodged in the femur in such a manner thatit was necessary to open the joint in order to extract it. Thebullet was removed by opening the joint on June 30, 1913. Asmall drain was left in the bone at the site of the bullet. Thejoint was closed in the usual manner, and kept at rest for sixweeks, with
