The square of Heroes of Patriotic war of 1812 (Uspenk's square) — is located on Ostro-Spasskoy (Sharp-Spasskoy) hill, put in 1912, the area of 0,7 hectares. In the square the monument to heroes of Patriotic war of 1812 is located. The monument represents a granite obelisk 26 m high established on a rectangular pedestal and topped with a bronze two-headed eagle on a sphere. On corners of a plate of the basis of a monument four pig-iron guns cast on samples of mortars of times of Peter I are established. In the foreground the Memorial complex in honor of soldiers of the Great Patriotic War of 1941. On the right governor's palace, monument of architecture of the XVIII century. Was the residence of governor generals of the Vitebsk and Mogilyov general governorship and governors of the Vitebsk province.
