The Captainof the Company is George Ewing,who was born in Lower Canada inJanuary, 1859. He came to Californiain 1862, and joined the Fire Depart-ment on December 19, 1894, and wasattached to the Water Tower Com-pany as driver. Then he was trans-ferred to Engine 12 as stoker, and in smothered the fire which the waterturn to Engines 7, 33 and 32 as stoker in companies failed to extinguish, Chemicaleach, and finally to Chemical 7, to his Engine Company No. 7 being one of.
