Pterosaur headcrest, artwork. Tupandactylus imperator was a pterosaur species that lived 112 million years ago. It had the largest head crest of any pterosaur species. The crest consisted largely of soft tissue with a few long thin bones that surround the margin. It is thought headcrests were grown as a sexual display.
