A male scaly cricket, Pseudomogoplistes vicentae, found on Chesil Beach, Dorset and photographed on a white background before release. There are only a handful of colonies found in the UK with Chesil beach home to one of them. They have a covering of tiny scales similar to those on a butterfly’s wings hence their name. They can sometimes be seen eating discarded bait such as squid used by anglers on the beach. Dorset England UK GB
