The starting point for thissurvey was the Old outlet, connecting Burlington Bay withLake Ontario, and situated near the northern end of the line was run at an angle of north 450 west, and extended COUNTY OF WENTWORTH, 59 to a point distant about twelve miles from the waters this point the surveyors were instructed to run a seriesof radial lines like the spokes of a wheel, with the view ofreaching the sources of the Thames. From this it is quite evi-dent that the authorities knew very little about the interior ofthe country.
