Solar system. Artwork of the outer solar system as seen from the orbit of Neptune (lower right), the outermost of the gas giant planets. The inner planets (including Earth) are hidden in the glare of the Sun (yellow, upper right). Uranus (centre left) is next in towards the Sun from Neptune, followed by Saturn (far right) and Jupiter (upper right). The outermost planet Pluto, and its moon Charon, are seen at top left. They are seen as following an orbit that is inclined to the ecliptic plane of the other planetary orbits. Uranus is seen tipped on its side, with a comet passing to its right. Comets are periodic visitors on elongated orbits from the outer solar system.
