Pancreatic cancer surgery. Surgeon positioning retractors during surgery to remove part of the pancreas and the spleen. The retractors hold back the patient's skin and flesh allowing the surgeons better access to the area being operated on. The surgery is being carried out to remove a malignant (cancerous) tumour of the pancreas. The spleen is also being removed due to the intimate connections of the two organs' blood supplies.
