KINGDON, GEORGE-BOUGHTON, esq. of Launcells, in the county ofCornwall, one of the g-entlemen of His Majestys most honourable Privy Chamber,a magistrate for Cornwall and Devon, and a deputy-lieutenant of the The Kingdons are an old and respec-table family of the counties of Cornwall andDevon. Their most ancient residence, ofwhich there is now any authentic account,was at Trehunsey, in the parish of Quithi-ock, Cornwall, where they flourished in ther2th, 13th, 14th, and 15th centuries. Inthe parish church of Quithiock is a crossaisle, on the southern side, belonging tothe ancient mansion and manor of Trehun-sey, with the family vault underneath, nearwhich stands an antique marble monument,on which are the brass effigies of RogerKiNGDON, (who died 1462), Joanna,his wife, and fifteen children, viz. ten sonsand five daughters, with four shields ofarms, and the following inscription : Hie jacent Kogerus Kyngdon, Joanna uxor 212 KINGDON, OF LAUNCELLS. ejus, filii, flliaeque, ac onines progenitoresfcorum.
