Jurassic Coast, satellite image. North is at top. The UK's Jurassic Coast in Devon and Dorset runs from Exmouth (upper left) to Studland Bay near Poole (far right). It is a UNESCO World Heritage Site famous for its rocks and fossils that span 185 million years of geological history during the Triassic, Jurassic and Cretaceous periods. This satellite image shows fields and rural countryside along the English Channel coast in south-western England, from just south of Poole in Dorset at far right, to Prawle Point in Devon at lower left. The Isle of Portland is at centre right. Lyme Regis is at upper centre. Exmouth and its estuary are at upper left. Torquay and Paignton are at lower left. The Kingsbridge estuary is at bottom left. Dartmoor National Park is at far left. This image covers an area around 180 kilometres across. Image data obtained by the Operational Land Imager (OLI) and Thermal Infrared Sensor (TIRS) on the Landsat 8 satellite between 30 October and 9 November 2017.
