Exotic mammals, 19th-century artwork. From upper left to lower right: a three-toed sloth (Bradypus tridactylus); a nine-banded armadillo (Dasypus novemcinctus); a giant anteater (Myrmecophaga tridactyla, formerly M. jubata); a long-tailed pangolin (Manis tetradactyla, formerly M. macroura); a short-beaked echidna (Tachyglossus aculeatus, formerly Echidna hystrix); and a platypus (Ornithorhynchus anatinus, formerly O. paradoxus). 1827 artwork from 'Encyclopaedia Metropolitana', published in London between 1817 and 1845.
