The temperature at the start is about 160deg., but rapidly rises at about 1 deg. per minute until a tem-perature of 250 deg. is reached, requiring about IJ^ to 2hours. The oven is held at this temperature until the lapseof 3 hours, when the car is withdrawn, allowed to coolsufficiently to work on, after which the surfaces are glazedand depressions and uneven places puttied. The car thenreceives its first coat of surfacer, is returned to the oven for3 .hours, baked and removed for additional coats which varyfrom two to three in number as the needs of the case the last coat of surfacer has been applied and baked,the outside surface of the body of the car is
