Phoenixes and dracaenas are used in the centers, hydrangeas, geraniums, fuchsias, mar- guerites, begonias, petunias, heliotropes, cannas, coleus and crotons for filling. This class of work calls for the best stock. The Minneapolis Floral Co. has an immense stock of all kinds of bedding and window box plants. The French hydrangeas are especially handsome and comprise all the leading varieties. This concern expects extra heavy work in funeral orders, both local and out-of- town. Thomas Hall has been hustling with funeral orders. His spring stock is in fine shape and he looks forward to an increased business. The L. S. Donaldson Co. intends to discontinue growing and will tear down the remainder of its greenhouses. There is a keen cut-price competition among the Greek florists, of whom there are many in this city. As a Saturday special one store was quoting roses at 60 cents per dozen; a block away an- other store offered them at 75 cents per dozen. What a pity! The Dayton Flower Store has been carrying a fine variety of stock. This establishment has been in operation nearly a year and is rapidly extending trade. The contracts of the Minneapolis Civic and Commercial Association for the filling of plant boxes on 300 elec- tric standards now nray be-bid on.
