Perhaps themost important singleevent was the imprison-ment here and the torturefor several days of Bal-thazar Gerard, the assassinof the Prince of Gerard was cap-tured he was taken to alittle cell still preserved farup in the tower, but notshown to the public; andfrom there, three days afterthe murder, he was led out to the mar-ket place, in front of the City Hall,which looks to-day much as it did in.
