Dear Sir,—Acting under your instructions I have, at odd moments duringthe past four years, collected a large number of specimens of the better knownplants found growing without cultivation in the Park; and have mounted andcatalogued them for convenience of reference. So far 105 families, comprising 417 genera and 915 species, have been found ;and I have no doubt that many others will yet be discovered. As you desired tohave the catalogue embrace only such plants as have been mounted and are onevidence in the Herbarium. I have not included any of the many other speciesnot found by me but which have been noted by visiting botanists from time totime in the immediate vicinity of the Park.
