Sculpted vessel Huari Transitional period 800 AD - 1300 AD
In the pre-Columbian times the representation of the feminine figure was fundamentally associated with fertility and, in this figurine, even an added sense of playfulness seems to be present. Although it is evident that the aesthetic patterns have been modified, the primitive beauty each piece contains is undeniable. Using particularly Huari elements such as linear design, color range and the desire to emphasize iconographic details, this figurine, in which the sculpted work would seem to have left pending, are enchanting by the primitive and naive purity each one possesses. One is confronted by a parade of feminine personages who form part of the ritual arrangement imposed by the Huari through an elaborately designed religious and military base.
