Bridge of Oich off the A82 at Aberchalder south of Fort Augustus Scotland

Editorial use only. This beautifully designed bridge preserved by Historic Scotland is located just off the A82 as it crosses the River Oich north of Loch Oich in the Great Glen. James Dredge designed this splendid suspension bridge in 1854. It was built using a sophisticated patented design of double cantilevered chain construction with massive granite pylon arches at either end.
