An idyll. Ariundle Oakwoods, just outside Strontian, are a remaining fragment of an ancient oakwood that once stretched all the way from Portugal to Norway. A wide track leads through the woods (sadly, one of the side-routes closed for repairs), the trees covered in mosses and lichens, the forest home to rare species of butterfly, deer, badgers and even wildcats.
