Shippers should also insist on the car being well ventilated ; icing only seems to aggravate molding. In North Carolina, says F. C. Reimer, dew- berries are packed and shipped in thirty-two-quart crates. many other locahties they are packed in regulation strawberry pack- ages, — sixteen or twenty- four-quart crates. Currants and Goose- berries. —Currants should be picked when fully ma- tured and colored, but not when overripe. Of course they are picked with stems on, in clusters, just as they grow. Gooseberries are usually picked and marketed while in a green, hard condition, when of mature size. Pro- fessional pickers use leather gloves and strip off the gooseberries (instead of picking them one by one),. IF HE D PUT ON GLOVES AND STRIP THE GOOSEBERRIES OFF, THE BOX WOULD FILL FASTER.
