Prairie City, Iowa - Biologists at the Neal Smith National Wildlife Refuge wrap milkweed pods to collect seeds from the less common varieties--the butterfly, swamp, and prairie milkweed. The seeds will be planted in other areas of the refuge in a continuing effort to bring back the tallgrass prairie. Tallgrass prairie used to cover most of Iowa; now less than one-tenth of one percent remains.
