Underdeveloped pelvic bones. Coloured X-ray of a section through the pelvis of a 33-year-old female patient, showing agenesis of the sacrum and coccyx (centre). Agenesis is failure of an organ to develop during embryonic growth and development. Here, it has affected the sacrum and coccyx (tailbone). Also seen here is an intrauterine contraceptive device (IUD, white, t-shaped, upper centre) implanted in the uterus (womb).
