The world-famous white marble Leaning Tower of Pisa campanile (bell tower) shows its obvious tilt from ground level at Cathedral Square in Pisa, Italy. The top of this 14th-century engineering marvel houses its church bells and leans about 17 feet (5 meters) off the vertical. Columns support 211 arches that encircle all eight stories of the round building. Inside is a spiral staircase with 297 marble steps that visitors can climb for a view from the top.
