Neolithic settlement. Remains of stone walls excavated at the Choirokoitia site, near the southern coast of Cyprus. These are the remains of round houses built from stone and mud bricks. This site dates to at least the sixth millennium BC. A latter period of occupation dates to the mid-fifth millennium BC, and the site was abandoned by the early 4th millennium BC. Choirokoitia has been a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1998.
