Chapel Ash, Wolverhampton, circa 1904. A Wolverhampton Corporation owned tram (No. 16) and horse-drawn vehicles at Chapel Ash, at the junction with Tettenhall Road and Compton Road. The tram is running on the main Wolverhampton to Tettenhall route. There appears to be a terminus for the horse-drawn vehicles directly in front of the house (centre) with a horse trough and a round shelter with a urinal for the hansom cab drivers. P. G. Godsell the chemists, (later to become Boots the chemists around 1908), is to the far right. The image also depicts how the transition began from the old forms of horse-drawn transport to the new types of 'horseless' transport in the shape of the tram.
