The Royal Monastery of Santa María de Poblet (in Catalan: Reial Monestir de Santa Maria de Poblet) or, simply Monastery of Poblet, is the prototype of a Spanish Cistercian abbey. Located in the region of the Barberá Basin, in the municipality of Vimbodí and Poblet, in Tarragona (Spain), the first monastery was promoted and sponsored by Ramón Berenguer IV, Count of Barcelona, who gave it to the Bernardo monks of the Fontfroide abbey in It was the royal pantheon of the Crown of Aragon, from the end of the 14th century until the extinction of the royal house of Aragon in the 15th century.
