Grave and headstone of Isaac Rosenberg killed on 1st April 1918 in Frampaux near Arras after a dawn patrol. He was first buried in a mass grave and then his memorial was erected here in Plot V at the Bailleul Road East Cemetery, Saint-Laurent-Blangy outside of Arras. Rosenberg is hailed as one of the greatest of the World War One poets and served as a simple Private in the Kings Own Royal Lancaster Regiment. During the war he wrote several poems regarded as the finest evocation of the front line soldiers experience including Break of Day in the Trenches, Returning we Hear the Larks, and Dead Man's Dump.
