Boil on the brow. A red, inflamed and pus-filled boil (furuncle) beneath a woman's eyebrow. A boil is an infected area of skin, usually caused by infection of a hair follicle (the pit in which a hair grows) by the bacteria Staphylococcus aureus. Boils heal when the pus is released by lancing or piercing. Alternatively, antibiotics may be prescribed.
