The \\art_\- growth is sometimes entirely white, and ma\- contrast strongly with the colors of adjacent parts. Fish thus colorefl are called hiragashira, or white-heads. As white warts are nearl}' always smaller than red warts and the growth is thus less ])rominent, these fish are known also as shiraga^hira, or flal-heads. 30.
