'With Kitchener in the Soudan; A Story of Atbara and Omdurman' is an adventure novel by G. A. Henty set during the British military expedition under Lord Kitchener in the Mahdist War (1881-1899), and the subsequent defeat of the Mahdi's followers and Sudan's conquest. It was first published in 1902. Kitchener won fame in 1898 for winning the Battle of Omdurman and securing control of the Sudan, after which he was given the title 'Lord Kitchener of Khartoum'.
