We are indebted for the flowers of this, as webelieve hitherto undescribed species, to M. Linden, inwhose collection the plant flowered for the first timeduring the last year. It was found in the Upper Amazonby Mr. Wallis, M. Lindens energetic and successfulcollector. Like most of the Aristolochias, it is a climb-ing plant with a woody stem. The leaves are alternate,petiolate, the petioles being somewhat shorter than the leaves themselves. Stipules The leaf-blades are smooth, thiokish in texture, broadly ovate,cordate, acuminate, pedately 5-nerved, 5-6 inches long,4-5 inches wide. The flowers are stalked and arrangedin tufts springing from the old wood. The perianth, of apale dirty-brown colour on the outside, consists ofthree distinct divisions—a lower cylindrical port
