Ruinas de San Jeronimo or Ruins of the San Jeronimo Church and School in Antigua Guatemala. Antigua is in the central highlands of Guatemala and for 200 years it was the capital of Guatemala. It was built in an earthquake-prone region and largely destroyed by an earthquake in 1773. Today it is a favorite tourist destination as a partially restored colonial city with majestic churches and monasteries and cobblestone streets. It is listed as a UNESCO world heritage site.
