INTRODUCTION. NO fooner was the late War withFrance concluded, and Peace efta-blilhed by the Treaty of Verfaiiles in theYear 1763, than I began to conlider(having rendered my country fome fer-vices during the war) how I might con-tinue ftill ferviceable, and contribute, asmuch as lay in my power, to make thatvaft acquifition of territory, gained byGreat Britain, in North America advan-tageous to it. It appeared to me indif-penfably needful, that Government (houldbe acquainted in the firfl place with thetrue flate of the dominions they werenow become polTeffed of.
