Ikrit and Biram are two neighboring Maronite Christian the War of Independence they were evacuated and have not been allowed to return Bar am is the nearest jewish settlement .The National park includes ruins of the Village of Bir am and is regularly visited by the former villages and the jewish settlements in the area are near the Lebanese Border with Israel and are considered a sensitive security zone though visits to the National park are popular and safe. The park attracts both jewish and christian visitors in large numbers.
