Marines of the 1st Platoon, Company, 3rd Battalion, 5th Marines, are seen crossing a small river during a search and destroy mission approximately eight miles northwest of Tam Ky, South Vietnam. This operation, known as OPERATION NAPA, took place on September 8, 1966. The photograph was taken by ICpl. Williams, a photographer for the 1st Marine Division.
