A German knightly sword, 12th/13th centuries. Heavy, double-edged blade with fullers on both sides. The point has been damaged by corrosion. There is a coat of arms inlaid in brass on one side, the opposite side has an inlaid "Wolfsangel" rune. Wide spread quillons with a quadrangular cross section tapering slightly at the ends. Heavy tang with a flattened conical (Oakeshot, Type E). Cleaned excavation discovery.
